Those who say polling was clean : how can they account for these outrageous irregularities? PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 06 February 2010
We produce herein a picture of the genuine official ballot paper which was found in a drain near the Technical College, Ratnapura which was a counting center on the election day. The ballot paper clearly shows the cross put in line with the swan symbol of Presidential candidate Gen. Fonseka indicating that it was cast in favor of him and is valid. This also bears the original signature of the Elections Commissioner authenticating that it is not a copy or any other.

The opposition parties and the Presidential candidate Gen. Fonseka have been making raging accusations there fore not without cause that this election was outrageously corrupt and rigged.

Yet, the frontline Ministers of the Govt. say that the Opposition does not know even to count. Minister Premachandra has stated that because the Opposition cannot count that they are making accusations in regard to the election results.

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena at a media meeting at his media Ministry yesterday (4), stated the Opposition is alleging the Presidential election as corrupt only to build up support for the forthcoming General elections, adding that the protests staged on the basis of corrupt elections is not going to earn the support of the people for the Opposition.

The opposition is screaming that this election is corrupt and rigged despite the Elections Commissioner’s opinion to the contrary is to paint a wrong picture to the International community, the Minister noted.

By this ballot paper signed by the Elections Commissioner himself alone contradicts the Minister’s declaration that the Elections Commissioner has confirmed elections was not tainted by frauds.

We wish to focus the attention of the voters of SL to the discovery of a bundle of ballot papers duly cast and authenticated found discarded in the close vicinity of a counting center. We wish to ask how these ballot papers representing the precious rights of franchise of Sri Lankans were so despicably and disdainfully thrown away and by whom?
